"Ronaldo's Quest: Extending His Football Legacy into His 40s and the Clash with Messi at the 2026 World Cup"

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to continue playing Football into his own 40s and maintain his eternal rivalry with Lionel Messi through the next World Cup in 2026.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is 38 years old and works to stay as healthy as he can. He hopes to postpone his retirement to play in the upcoming World Cup and continue his rivalry with Messi, who is 36-years-old.

The 38-year-old claims he has told Portugal and Al-Nassr of his long-term objectives and hopes to continue playing until "early 2027."

Ronaldo has reportedly informed his Saudi Arabian club team that he would like to negotiate a contract extension through the year 2027, according to Cadena COPE. With that agreement, he would be able to represent his nation at next World Cup finals that the US, Canada, and Mexico will co-host.

In 2021, Ronaldo broke the record for most goals scored in a single season of international play with 123 goals in 201 appearances for Portugal. In Qatar during the World Cup finals last year, he served as his country's captain. Ronaldo can continue to compete with the Argentine great who won the World Cup in 2022 and wants another chance at that title by extending his career until he is 41 years old.
